Software Engineer Senior'

As a Software Engineer Senior, you ll be working with global clients to ....


Responsibilities

  • Complete all stages of the development lifecycle
  • Develop and execute application software using COBOL, Db2 and IMS to meet our client s requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement by sharing your expertise, and assisting less experienced team members.
  • Provide essential support to internal users, ensuring system stability through proactive maintenance, and participating in an out-of-hours cover rotation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects that support our payment systems.

Responsibilities

  • You will be writing code to fulfil client requirements
  • You will be estimating and planning small 6 medium sized projects
  • You will be responsible for delivering the projects by the agreed date(s)
  • You will be conducting Unit Testing of your code
  • You will be participating in code reviews
  • You will be running jobs to create reports and update client data
  • You will need to provide out-of-hours (including weekend) cover on a rota basis

What You Will Need

  • Strong technical foundations in COBOL and JCL for z/OS, with a proven track record of delivering clean, reliable code.
  • Experience with IMS and/or Db2
  • Experience of Mainframe Tools and Utilities, such as TSO/ISPF, SDSF, JCL, Sort
  • A willingness to learn new technology
  • Adaptability and organisation, staying calm and focused during busy periods, or when handling out-of-hours support
  • Good communication skills, allowing you to work effectively with both technical peers and internal stakeholders.
