Senior Android Developer

Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Android Developer to join an industry leading media productions company. We are looking for a full time Senior Mobile Apps developer (Android) to join our team to build a native app for video/audio content delivery through a retail e-commerce platform. Excellent oral and written communication is a must and so is inter-personal skills and team spirit. Commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and the creation of quality products is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
  •  Design and build applications for the Android platform and FireTV
  •  The developer will lead the entire application lifecycle right from the concept stage until delivery and post-launch support.
  •  Responsible for the quality and performance of the apps
  •  Responsible for code check-ins, maintainability, and ongoing enhancements as needed
  •  Must be capable of translating high-level user requirements into technical tasks
  •  Ability to read/ follow undocumented code to improve the performance and execution of the code.
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git or SVN
  •  Creation of applications in the Google Play App Store: in-app purchasing and subscriptions to sync with Google Play billing.
  •  Creation of applications in the Amazon App Store: in-app purchasing and subscriptions to sync with Amazon In-App Purchasing.
  •  Documentation in Confluence for updating and tracking purposes.

Qualifications:

  • 6 to 9 years of Android/Java/Kotlin application development experience, with a portion in Android Studio and/or Gradle
  • Experience developing user experiences in native Android and mixed HTML/Android apps.
  • Experience designing applications and services from the ground up
  • At least one completed app in Google Play — include the links in your resume or cover letter
  • Good understanding of OOP, concurrency, synchronization, and memory management
  • Experience with in-app purchasing with integration to payment processors is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications
  • Knack for benchmarking and optimization
  • Ideal candidate will also possess experience with Roku, iOS, Android, and Kindle/Amazon apps
  • Experience in content space with audio/visual like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, MLB, Roku etc., would be a huge plus
  • Experience with setting up automated build scripts, CI (Continuous Integration)
  • Experience with writing Unit test
  • Experience working with undocumented code and documenting it
  • Experience cleaning up library dependencies
  • Experience working with 3rd Party SDKs and integration
  • Preferred Education and Experience

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
  • Experience creating GitHub pages to share with the developer community.
  • Active participation in the online community like Source Forge, Stack Overflow.
  • Experience cleaning up library dependencies
  • Experience with BrightScript and Roku Pay
  • Solutions-oriented software developer

Compensation:

$130,000 – $150,000, benefits, flexible pto, paid holidays, 401k
