HiCareer is supporting a remote-first e-commerce marketplace in hiring a Junior Backend Developer. The company’s platform connects thousands of products and customers across Europe, handling everything from product listings and checkout to logistics and payments. With traffic and transactions growing rapidly, the backend team is expanding to ensure the platform stays reliable, scalable, and fast.

This is a great opportunity for a junior developer who wants to learn in a modern environment (Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, AWS) while working on real challenges that directly impact end users.

🎯 What You’ll Work On

• Build and improve backend services that handle millions of API calls daily
• Develop integrations with payment providers, logistics partners, and external APIs
• Optimise database queries and backend performance for scale
• Work closely with frontend engineers and product managers to deliver new features end-to-end
• Participate in code reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions

🚀 First 6 Months

• Deliver your first feature in production within 6–8 weeks
• Take ownership of a small service/module and improve stability or performance
• Learn deployment and monitoring workflows (CI/CD, AWS monitoring)
• Collaborate on at least one cross-team project (e.g. checkout, search, or logistics flows)

✅ What They’re Looking For

• 0–2 years of experience in backend development
• Familiarity with Node.js, TypeScript, and SQL (PostgreSQL preferred)
• Interest in distributed systems, APIs, and scalable architectures
• Some knowledge of cloud services (AWS/GCP/Azure) is a plus
• Curious, eager to learn, and motivated to take ownership in a real-world system
• Fluent in English and comfortable working in a remote-first environment
